Our Love Story
Our story begins amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The pandemic's constraints unexpectedly became the seed of our love when we both found ourselves working at the same place. We quickly hit it off, and what started as outings with colleagues soon became just the two of us. Before we knew it, we were jetting off together to the other side of the globe (specifically Aruba). Since then, we've explored life together, traveled the world, dined at everything from the most prestigious restaurants to the most off-the-beaten-path eateries. Our first shared roof was amidst the bustling streets of Warsaw, among 2 million people. Then, we experienced the ultimate definition of "contrast" as we moved to the barren expanses of Finnmark, settling in Kirkenes with a population of about 9,000. We've learned that our love is stronger than external circumstances, and despite our differences, we realized that happiness knows no bounds when we're together. As we embark on new adventures, we look forward to inviting you to celebrate the highlight of our story – our wedding day!

Kliczkow Castle
We're thrilled to announce that our wedding will take place at Kliczków Castle, a historic gem steeped in centuries of history and elegance. We selected this location for its remarkable history and status as one of Poland's most beautiful castles.

Kliczków Castle has a rich history dating back to the medieval era. Originally established as a strategic stronghold on the banks of the Kwisa River by Duke Prince Bolko the Stern (Bolko I Surowy) in 1297, it later came under the control of the Rechenberg family from Saxony for nearly 300 years. The main building, constructed in Renaissance style in 1585, has been the venue for numerous significant events, including the visit of King Matthias of Bohemia in 1611 and Emperor Wilhelm II's stay during a hunt in 1906. The castle also has a dramatic history from the Nazi period, with its former owner, Frederick of Solms-Baruth, involved in resistance against National Socialism and later arrested following a failed assassination attempt on Hitler.
After World War II, the castle was looted by Soviet troops but managed to survive largely unscathed. In the 1970s, Wrocław University of Technology attempted to save the castle, but it wasn't until after the fall of communism that a commercial company from Wrocław purchased it. They transformed it into a luxurious conference and recreation center, opening in 1999.
Located within the vast Lower Silesia Forest, Kliczków Castle offers an idyllic setting for our celebration. With its historic rooms, extensive dining facilities, and picturesque surroundings, it provides the perfect backdrop for our special day. Our guests can take advantage of several amenities on the castle grounds, including a swimming pool, sauna, spa, tennis courts, pool tables, and horseback riding. Guided tours of the castle are available in English for 50 zloty (approximately 120 NOK, 12 USD or 11.64 EUR with the current exchange rate), but reservations are required in advance. Please inform us if you're interested.
On the castle grounds, you'll find a restaurant named Boletus, located within the castle itself. Here, traditional Polish cuisine is served, prepared using locally sourced ingredients from the Lower Silesian forests, the Kwisa River, and surrounding lakes. This is also where the wedding will take place. Additionally, there's another restaurant, Manufacture of Pizza and Flatbread, just 150 meters from the castle in a separate building belonging to the estate. As the name suggests, this restaurant specializes in pizza. For those looking to explore more dining options in the area, there's a wide selection of restaurants offering various cuisines in the town of Boleslawiec, approximately a 15-minute drive from the castle.
Wedding Details
Here you will find details for our wedding day, including times and important events. We would like everyone to participate in the events described below. Additionally, there will be many more activities throughout the evening. Please note that if you choose to arrive at the castle on the same day as the wedding, hotel check-in will not be available until 4:00 pm.
June 28:
3:00 pm - Wedding Ceremony:
The wedding ceremony is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm and will take place in the castle's garden. Being punctual is crucial for the ceremony, so we recommend arriving at least 15-20 minutes in advance to ensure you have enough time to find your seat and settle in. Expect the ceremony to last until around 3:20 pm.
Please note that there are only 50 seats available, many of which are reserved for family, so most guests will need to stand either on the terrace or behind the chairs. You will receive information about seating placement when you arrive, so we appreciate it if you come early before the ceremony.
3:30 pm - Bubbly hour:
After the ceremony, guests are invited to join for a glass of champagne and mingle in the garden until around 4:30 pm. Guests who have not checked into the hotel yet can do so now. The newlyweds will step away briefly after the ceremony for a photoshoot but will return by 4:10 pm to greet all the guests.
4:10 pm - Greeting Guests:
We will return from our photoshoot at 4:10 pm to greet all our guests. If you would like to bring a card or gift, we kindly ask you to give it to us at this time, as we wish to avoid keeping them in the ballroom during the wedding celebration.
4:30 pm - Group Photo/Film with Drone:
At 4:30 pm, guests are to gather outside the castle for a group photo/film with a drone. We would greatly appreciate everyone's participation.
4:45 pm - Reception:
At 4:45 pm, we will proceed into the castle. It's important that all guests are present at this time. The bride and groom will participate in a traditional ritual. Following this, they will lead guests into the castle, and guests will receive their table numbers. Guests will be seated in 4 areas: the ballroom, the library, the turquoise hall, and the theatre hall. Please note that the library, the ballroom, the turquoise hall, and the theatre hall are interconnected, so some guests will dine in the ballroom, while others will be seated in the library or the turquoise hall. All dancing, partying, and music during the wedding will take place in the theatre hall.
4:55 pm - Welcome Speech:
Once the guests have arrived, found their tables, and gotten something to drink, they will be invited to the theatre hall for the welcome speech, which will be followed by dinner.
5:00 pm - Dinner:
Dinner will be served as a 3-course menu in the ballroom, the library, and the turquoise hall. We kindly ask guests to remain at their assigned seats during the meal, as several guests have dietary restrictions, and the waitstaff has been informed about where guests with special dietary needs are seated. Additionally, all seating arrangements have been carefully selected to ensure the best experience for everyone, especially since many guests may not know each other. After dinner, new cold dishes will be continuously served.
There will be no speeches during dinner as guests will be seated in different areas. The speeches have already been arranged in advance with the speakers and their scheduled times.
6:30 pm - First Dance:
At 6:30 pm, we invite you to the theatre hall for the first dance. Following the first dance, there will be a game that we would like all our guests to participate in.
7:30 pm - Live band:
At 7:30 pm, a live band will enter the stage. We won't reveal the band, but we assure you that everyone will have fun. DJ Arko will keep the party going after the band's performance. The party is scheduled to last until 3:30 for those who wish to stay until the end. There are many activities (including games and line dances) planned throughout the evening, as well as numerous surprises. For those who want some fresh air, there is a balcony connected to the ballroom.
9:15 pm - Cake Cutting Ceremony:
At 9:15 pm, everyone is invited to join us as we cut the first slice of our wedding cake.
11:00 pm - Evening Meal:
At 11:00 pm, soup and pierogi (Polish dumplings) will be served.
12:00 am - "Oczepiny" - Tossing of Bridal Veil and Tie, and Traditional Games:
This is a significant moment in Polish tradition, and at this time, everyone is invited to participate in or observe traditional games that usually take place at midnight and focus on the newlyweds. It's advisable to bring along some small cash, as one of the games may require this. These games will lead up to the tossing of the bridal veil and tie, where unmarried guests will have the chance to catch them. In Poland, it's a tradition for the bride to toss her bridal veil instead of the bouquet, and whoever catches it may wear it for the remainder of the evening. Similarly, the groom tosses his tie to single men to see who will be the next to get married.
The word "Oczepiny" can be translated to "unveiling" in English, and it refers to the traditional act in the past where the bride's headpiece (czepiec) was removed and replaced with a white kerchief as a symbol of a woman's transition from unmarried to married. This tradition dates back to a time when marriages were often arranged by families, and the choice of spouse wasn't always based on mutual love. Therefore, it wasn't always a pleasant experience, as the person who caught the headpiece could be the next to get married. Later, games were added to make the tradition more enjoyable.
Following "Oczepiny," the entertainment will continue as before.
2:00 am - Late Night Snack:
At 2:00 am, the final meal of the night will be served.
3:30 am - End of the Party:
The venue will close, and the party will come to an end.
June 29:
10:00 am - Breakfast:
Join us at 10:00 am for a final gathering before check-out. We've arranged to extend breakfast until 11:00 am. Please note that check-out from the hotel is also at 11:00 am.
4:00 pm - Beach Bar:
For those who are staying at the castle until Monday or are leaving later on Sunday, we have reserved the entire "beach bar" in the castle's garden at 4:00 pm. You will have the opportunity to purchase drinks at the bar and food from Folwark, which offers dishes such as pizza, burgers, and pierogi.

Our guests can choose between staying in the castle rooms or opting for the more budget-friendly hotel (Folwark Książęcy) next door. Each room and apartment has its own unique character, offering a variety of features such as dining areas, small kitchens, and charming staircases, while others provide a more standard yet comfortable stay. There's a diverse selection to cater to every guest's needs and preferences.

Since the castle operates as both a hotel and a popular tourist attraction, there will be other guests on-site, and room availability may be limited. If you do not have someone to share a room with but would like us to find a roommate for you, please let us know.

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift of all, and we are so grateful to have you join us on this special day.
We truly appreciate those of you who wish to contribute to our future together. Following Polish tradition, where monetary gifts are common in weddings, we wish to adhere to this practice as we are getting married abroad. Therefore, we would greatly appreciate monetary gifts instead of boxed gifts, and we gladly embrace the Polish tradition. We have set up a wedding fund where contributions will go towards things we need for our new home once we have settled, as well as helping us with financing our honeymoon.

Thank you for being a part of our journey!
Travel Info
We're expecting guests from all over the world, including Norway, the USA, Colombia, Chile, the Netherlands, India, Oman, Mexico, Germany, Turkey, and Poland. To help you plan your journey, here's some travel information:
Flights to Wroclaw:
For international guests, one of the two best ways to reach Kliczków Castle is by flying to Wroclaw Airport (WRO). Direct flights are available from cities such as Oslo Torp, London, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, and soon from Oslo Gardemoen with Norwegian Air.

Transportation from Wroclaw Airport:
Car rental: From the airport, we recommend renting a car as it is the most convenient and cost-effective option. Traffic in Poland can be busier than in Norway, but in Wrocław, it is much more relaxed compared to Warsaw for those who were concerned about the traffic there. However, for guests from countries other than Norway, traffic should not be an issue. If you rent a car from the airport, you do not need to drive into the city center. The roads in Poland are generally well-maintained and wide. The journey to Kliczków Castle usually takes around 1.5-2 hours by car. Renting a car for 5 people can cost approximately 80-110 zloty per day (equivalent to 200-300 NOK, 20-28 USD, 18-26 EUR). Before making a reservation, it's essential to review the rental agreement thoroughly. This involves checking payment options like credit cards, deposit policies, and insurance coverage, as terms may vary between rental companies.
Train: For guests arriving in Wroclaw who do not wish to drive, it is possible to take a train to Boleslawiec, which is the nearest town to the castle. The train can be taken either from Wroclaw Central Station in the city center or from Wroclaw Zerniki train station, which is closer to the airport but also requires a short bus ride from the airport, and we recommend using Google Maps.
Train from the airport: From the airport, you can take bus 129 to Zernicka (13 minutes). From there, walk to Wroclaw Zerniki station (Breslau Neukirch), which is about a 3-minute walk straight across the road. From Wroclaw Zerniki station, you can take train D1 or D10 to Boleslawiec (1 hour and 18 minutes), where you can then take a taxi to Kliczkow Castle (15-20 minutes). It is important to make sure that the train is going in the correct direction. Below, you'll find details regarding ticket prices and how to purchase tickets.
Train from Wroclaw city center: If the previous route seems overly complex, you have the option to take a direct train from the city center of Wroclaw to Boleslawiec. This is particularly convenient if you intend to explore the charming city of Wroclaw before the wedding. You can catch the same trains, D1 or D10, from Wroclaw Main Station (Wroclaw Glowny), and the journey to Boleslawiec by train typically takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From there, you'll need to arrange for a taxi to the castle, which usually takes 15-20 minutes. Keep in mind that there might be some traffic between Boleslawiec and the castle, so it's wise to allocate extra time. Trains to Boleslawiec generally operate approximately once per hour. The fare for the D1 and D10 trains is approximately 33 zloty per person (equivalent to 90 NOK, 8 USD, 7.5 EUR). The tickets can be purchased online, but it should also be possible to buy them either at the train station from a ticket machine or, if there is no ticket machine available, you can usually buy them on the train. However, it's important to approach the ticket inspector directly before he approaches you to avoid potential fines. It's important to ensure you board only these specified trains and not, for instance, IC (intercity) trains, which may follow a similar route but are significantly more expensive. Detailed travel information can be accessed through Google Maps.
Uber: An Uber from Wroclaw to Kliczkow Castle for 4 people usually costs between 390-560 PLN (1000-1500 NOK, 98-141 USD, 90-130 EUR). It is slightly cheaper to take Uber from downtown Wroclaw than from the airport. When choosing Uber, be aware that there is no Uber service in the area around the castle or in Boleslawiec, which is the nearest town. In other words, Uber can only be taken one way. There is also limited access to taxis in this area, and taxis must be pre-ordered from Boleslawiec. If many guests require transportation to Boleslawiec on the Sunday following the wedding, where they can catch a train to Wroclaw, we will try to make the necessary arrangements.
Flights to Berlin (perhaps the most convenient option for those interested in renting a car):
Another option is flying to Berlin Brandenburg Airport. From Brandenburg, you can rent a car and drive approximately 2 hours to reach Kliczkow Castle via the highway. This route might be best suited for those looking to rent a car, as flights are available to Berlin Brandenburg Airport from various cities including Oslo, Tromsø, Trondheim, Bergen, New York, Amsterdam, and Dubai. We've noticed that car rentals from Berlin Brandenburg Airport typically range from $100 to $125 per day, which is higher than in Poland. However, discounts are often available for longer rental periods, with prices for 3 days also falling within the $100-$125 range. Therefore, if you plan to stay longer than a day, the price difference between car rentals in Poland and Germany may not be significant.

Alternative Airports:
If you cannot find a good flight to Wroclaw or Berlin, you might consider flying to Katowice Airport (KTW), Krakow Airport (KRK), Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW), or Prague Airport (PRG). Katowice is a bit further than Wroclaw, and we recommend renting a car, but taking the train is also an option, though it requires a train change. The drive from Katowice to Kliczków Castle takes about 2.5 hours. From Krakow, you can also take the train or rent a car. The best option from Warsaw is to fly to Wroclaw, although trains are also available. The drive from Krakow to Kliczków Castle takes about 3.5 hours, while it takes about 5 hours from Warsaw. For guests flying into Prague, renting a car, taking the train, or using FlixBus to Wroclaw are possible options. The drive from Prague to Kliczków Castle takes around 3 hours.
Exploring Poland:
We strongly recommend extending your stay to explore what Poland has to offer. Wroclaw is a fantastic city with a rich history and vibrant culture. You might also consider visiting Krakow and Warsaw, or taking a road trip to explore more of the country. Poland features diverse landscapes, from beautiful beaches in the north to stunning lakes and mountains in the south. Additionally, Kliczków Castle is conveniently located near the borders of Germany and the Czech Republic, making it a great starting point for exploring multiple countries.
Booking Tips:
Remember to book your flights well in advance, as prices for summer flights can become very expensive over time. Below are some of the airlines offering flights to Berlin, Wroclaw, and Warsaw from cities where we think our guests might be coming from. Of course, there are many more options and cities to choose from, so these are just suggestions.

RSVP
Please let us know if you can attend the wedding by clicking "Register Now" and fill out the form.
There are several questions to answer, as we want to have all the necessary information to plan accordingly. The RSVP deadline is set quite early because the castle where the wedding will take place is a popular tourist destination, and the castle staff needs to know exactly how many rooms to reserve and if they may need to close the entire castle and restaurant to other visitors.
FAQ
We've compiled a list of commonly asked questions to help make your experience as smooth as possible. If you have any further inquiries not addressed here, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly
1. Are plus ones allowed?
We appreciate your interest in sharing our special day with loved ones. However, due to venue constraints and to ensure that our celebration remains intimate and personal, we have decided to extend invitations exclusively to those individuals listed on the invitation. We hope for your understanding that there is no opportunity to add extra guests or a "plus one".
2. Are children allowed at the ceremony or reception?
While we understand the joy that children bring, we have chosen to keep our wedding festivities adults-only. We appreciate your understanding.
3. Can I take photos during the ceremony or reception?
Absolutely! We encourage all our guests to capture as many photos and videos as they wish during our ceremony and reception. Since there will be no professional photographer, we actually encourage everyone to take as many photos and videos as possible. Feel free to use your smartphone or camera to document the special moments. We believe that every photo taken by our guests will add to the cherished memories of our day. Please note that we encourage the use of regular phone cameras instead of Snapchat, as the quality may be lower when using the Snapchat app.
4. Can I post photos on social media?
Yes, you are welcome to share photos of our special day on social media. However, please be mindful that some guests may prefer not to have their photos shared publicly. We will create a private group where guests can share photos and videos, ensuring everyone's comfort and privacy. Our designated wedding hashtag is #anyahandhaakon.
5. How much time will there be between the ceremony and reception?
There will be approximately one hour between the ceremony and the reception. During this time, we will have a cocktail hour in the same garden area where the ceremony will take place. Check the "Details" section of this website for any updates or additional information.
6. What food will be served at the wedding?
While we’re still finalizing the details and want to keep some surprises for our guests, we can share that there will be a three-course dinner. It will start with an appetizer, followed by a main course featuring meat, and conclude with a dessert. Alternative options will be available for guests with dietary restrictions. Later in the evening, we’ll serve a variety of hot and warm Polish and international dishes to share at the table every 2-3 hours, catering to both meat and vegetarian preferences.
7. Will there be an open bar?
Yes, drinks will be provided for our guests to enjoy throughout the celebration. While we won't have a traditional bar setup, guests are welcome to help themselves from the designated drink stations. The drink selection will mainly include wine, beer, whiskey, and vodka for a true Polish experience.
8. Can I request a specific dietary accommodation?
We want all our guests to enjoy the culinary experience at our wedding. Please inform us of any dietary restrictions or special requests when you RSVP, and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
9. Is there parking available at the venue?
Yes, there will be ample parking available at the venue for our guests' convenience. Further details regarding parking arrangements will be provided closer to the event date.
10. What is the tipping culture like in Poland?
In Poland, it's customary to tip up to 10% for good service. Tips in cash are preferred. It's also common to tip at hair salons, beauty salons, and taxis.
11. Do you need cash in Poland?
Most places accept credit/debit cards, but most restaurants don't split bills. Tips are preferred in cash. It's usually not possible to pay by card in taxis. We encourage everyone to carry some cash for wedding games. ATMs are available everywhere in Poland, including at the castle.
12. How is the weather in Poland in late June?
In late June, the weather in the south of Poland, where our wedding will be held, is typically sunny and warm. Daytime temperature often range from 20-30 degrees celcius (68-86 degrees Fahrenheit), but can occasionally excees 30 degrees celcius (86 degrees Fahrenheit).
13. How many nights do you recommend staying at the castle?
It’s up to each guest how long they wish to stay at the castle. We will be there a bit earlier, but we’ll be quite busy with preparations, so unfortunately, we won’t have much time for socializing before the big day. Most guests have booked or plan to book 2 nights – from Friday to Sunday. If you arrive on Saturday, please note that check-in is after 3:00 PM, which is after the ceremony. In that case, we recommend staying in Wrocław or Bolesławiec the night before.
There are limited activities in the area aside from horseback riding and the hotel spa. If you’d like to extend your stay in Poland, we suggest visiting another city. For example, Wrocław is a vibrant city with plenty to offer, both on weekdays and weekends.
14. Will there be hairstylists or makeup artists available at the castle?
We have arranged for an additional makeup artist, but there are no more available slots for other guests, except for those who previously expressed interest. We are still looking for a hairstylist, as many people have shown interest. However, it seems to be difficult due to the high travel costs to the castle and the requirement that services be purchased by at least five people, starting as early as 6-7 a.m., which we think might not be convenient for anyone. Therefore, it might be better to find a hairstylist in Bolesławiec, but remember to book early. Bookings can be done through Booksy.com (remember to change region to Poland).
Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions!
Poland Info
Some of you may have already experienced the charm of Poland, but for those who haven't, here's a glimpse into what awaits you:

History:
Poland's history has been marked by both challenges and victories. Once a mighty kingdom boasting impressive castles like Wawel in Krakow and Malbork Castle in the north, which happens to be the world's largest castle, Poland has faced tough times including periods of division and occupation, such as the heartbreaking events at Auschwitz-Birkenau. Nevertheless, Poland has always risen again. Its rich heritage, featuring significant figures like King Casimir III the Great, has left an indelible mark on European history. At its peak, Poland's territory stretched from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. However, through partitions and border changes, its land gradually diminished, disappearing from the map of Europe for over a hundred years. After a long struggle, Poland regained its independence in 1918, heralding a new chapter in its remarkable history.
Due to this rich history, Poland boasts many excellent museums focusing not only on events but also on notable figures from Poland. For instance, Polish scientist Marie Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only one to win in two different scientific fields. Poland is also the birthplace of Polish philosopher and writer Karol Wojtyła, better known as Pope John Paul II. The Polish composer Frédéric Chopin, often mistaken for French, was indeed Polish. Poland is home to over 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Krakow's Old Town and Auschwitz-Birkenau. Poland's astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus formulated the heliocentric theory, positing that the sun is at the center of the solar system. Moreover, the country boasts one of the world's oldest national flags, in use since the 1200s. These historical and cultural elements have shaped Poland's identity and influenced world history.

Nature:
Poland features one of the most diverse landscapes in Europe, with mountains, lakes, beaches, and vast forests that offer ample opportunities for exploration. In the summer, visitors can enjoy the beaches in the north of Poland, while winter provides excellent conditions for skiing in the south. Additionally, Poland is the world's largest exporter of amber, with the famous Baltic amber often referred to as "Polish gold." Notably, Europe's tallest sand dune, known as the Łącka sand dune, rises 42 meters above the ground.
